Our First Job — Cascade Car Wash, Durango

The Durango Yard Dawgs' first commercial cleanup was a full property reset at Cascade Car Wash. Here is what the job involved and what we learned from it.

The Durango Yard Dawgs started in June 2026 with a full property cleanup at Cascade Car Wash in Durango. It was our first paying job, it was commercial rather than residential, and we finished it strong.

What the job was

A working car wash lot collects everything: windblown trash, weeds coming up through the seams in the concrete, gravel spread into places it shouldn’t be, and grime on every ground-level surface. The owner wanted the property back to looking the way it did when it opened.

We spent two days on it:

  • Day one — clearing debris, pulling weeds out of the seams and edges, and working through the lot section by section.
  • Day two — detailing and finishing. Ground-level glass, surfaces, edges, and a final sweep of the whole lot.

The before-and-after is on our Instagram. One of the comments summed it up better than we could: “It looks even better in person.”

What we took away from it

Commercial work is a different rhythm than a residential yard. A homeowner sees the yard every day and notices one missed corner. A business owner is looking at whether the property reads as cared-for from the street at 40 mph. Both matter, but they change where you spend your time.

Finishing is most of the job. Anyone can haul the obvious debris off a lot in an afternoon. The difference between “cleaned” and “cleaned properly” is the last twenty percent — the edges, the seams, the spots nobody would check.

Being local means the work follows you around. We drive past Cascade regularly. So does everyone else in Durango. That is a good reason to do it right the first time.

Since then

We have added lawn mowing, weed removal, pet waste cleanup, first-story window cleaning and sprinkler and irrigation work, all across Durango. Residential and small commercial both.
